How to Achieve the Perfect Spray Tan

​Before Your Appointment

Exfoliate & Shave:
For the best results, exfoliate and shave at least 48 hours before your spray tan. You can shave the morning of your appointment—just make sure you wait at least 4 hours after showering before getting sprayed.

Clean, Product-Free Skin:
Arrive with no lotion, oils, deodorant, or makeup on your skin. These create a barrier and prevent the solution from developing evenly.

Do Beauty Services Ahead of Time:
Schedule manicures, pedicures, waxing, and spa treatments before your spray tan. If you’re getting a pedicure right beforehand, request no lotion on your legs.

During Your Appointment

What to Wear:
Wear as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. You may bring a swimsuit, underwear, or other garments, but keep in mind the bronzer can transfer (it washes out). Dark clothing is recommended. Many clients choose to tan naked to minimize tan lines.

 

After Your Session

Loose, Dark Clothing Only:
Bring loose-fitting, dark clothes and flip-flops to wear afterward. Tight clothing can rub the bronzer and cause streaking. If it’s raining, plan ahead with loose pants, a jacket, and an umbrella.

Stay Dry:
Avoid ALL moisture for 8-12 hours after your tan—based on your artist’s recommendation.
This means no sweating, showering, swimming, or getting rained on. Moisture can stop the DHA from developing and lead to streaks.

Your First Shower

Don’t worry when you see color rinsing off—this is just the cosmetic bronzer washing away. Your beautiful developed tan will be underneath!

Rinse Only:
Your first rinse should be lukewarm water only, lasting 1–2 minutes until the water runs clear.
Skip soap, shampoo, shaving, or exfoliating during this rinse.

Maintaining Your Glow

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!
Hydrated skin = a longer-lasting, better-looking tan.
We carry tan-safe moisturizers designed to extend the life of your tan without stripping color.

​

Recommended After Care Routine:

• Use our gentle body wash for regular showers and shaving.

• Apply one of our Sunless Tan  Approved Moisturizers twice daily for deep hydration.

• Avoid products with alcohol or oils—they can cause fading and streaking.

• Starting Day 3–4, apply our Tan Extender Lotion every other night to lock in and maintain your darkest color.
